BABYBJÖRN High Chair wins international design award
The Swedish baby product company BabyBjörn and their BABYBJÖRN High
Chair have been awarded with the internationally renowned design prize, the
"Red Dot award: product design 2012".
It took BabyBjörn eight years - endless hours of testing by different children and many messy dinner tables - to develop their high chair. The result, a combination of high functionality and unique safety for the child, earned a red dot as a seal of quality of the design.
Jakob Wikner, Product Developer at BabyBjörn, responsible for the development of
the high chair is very pleased about the award:
"With our high chair, we wanted to find a solution to the safety challenges for a small child taking part in the family mealtimes. The functionality and the testing by families were important elements in the process, and it took years until we were fully satisfied with our high chair. It has received tremendously positive feedback from parents and now it also receives this respectable product design award. It is fantastic", says Wikner.
In a multi-day selection process, a 30-member expert jury elected the high chair of
the 51 year-old family company as winner. Among the criteria were; degree of
innovation, functionality, ergonomics, ecological compatibility and durability.
