Björn and Lillemor honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award
Björn Jakobson, founder of BABYBJÖRN, and his wife Lillemor Jakobson have been recognised with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the prestigious Mother & Baby Awards, the "Oscars of the UK Nursery Industry".
The award recognises contributions made by outstanding individuals to the baby products industry, and Björn and Lillemor are the third recipients. The award is truly deserved by Björn and Lillemor, who have built the brand to be the worldwide success it is today. Two million babies everyday around the world are carried close to their parents in a BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier.
Their objective has been the same since day one; to simplify the everyday activities of families by developing innovative products for infants and children. BABYBJÖRN is essentially a family business. Employing 80 people, BABYBJÖRN takes great pride in looking after its staff, and the core values have made the company the success story that it is. The company was founded by Björn in 1961. Lillemor and Björn got married in 1962 and today they also have four children and eight grandchildren. Very early he started co-operations with paediatricians and medical experts to make sure the products were safe and functional.
Sweden is synonymous with design - and BABYBJÖRN is no exception. The attention to detail is second to none – product development takes an average of three years in order to achieve the high level of quality, safety and design set by the company as a basic precondition for all their products.
Lillemor began working full time for the company at the end of the 70s. A textile designer, Lillemor was a pioneer in the baby industry when she created the first baby products in trendy designs. Her background has meant a great deal to the company’s success. Her designs have also meant that many fathers are proud users of the BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier.
BABYBJÖRN’s product range consists of around 20 products, and is sold in 30 countries worldwide. The company’s most popular product over the years has been the BabyBjörn Baby Carrier, followed by the BabyBjörn BabySitter. Björn and Lillemor have a well thought-out philosophy that guides the way they work, and as the company continues to go from strength to strength, Björn and Lillemor continue to stand by what they do and still work full time.
