BabyBjörn’s products are approved in accordance with Oeko-Tex Standard 100, Class 1. How does the Oeko-Tex product classification system work?
Class 1
Textiles and textile toys for infants and small children up to the age of three, e.g. underwear, rompers, bedding and soft toys.
Class 2
Textiles with major surfaces in direct contact with the skin, e.g. underwear, bedding, toweling, shirts and blouses.
Class 3
Textiles that do not come into direct contact with the skin, or where only a small part comes into contact with the skin, e.g. jackets, coats and linings.
Class 4
Decorative textiles, such as cloths, curtains, textile wall-coverings and carpets.
When can an item bear an Oeko-Tex label?
An item can carry an Oeko-Tex label if all of the product’s component parts have been tested and approved in accordance with the requirements for that product class. This includes not only exterior textiles, padding, filler material and linings, but accessories such as zippers, buttons, ribbons, ornamental lace, thread, filler foam etc.
How can you distinguish a genuine Oeko-Tex label?

What are the criteria for Oeko-Tex Standard 100?
Oeko-Tex Standard 100 excludes harmful substances or limits their use. The following parameters are just some of the Oeko-Tex requirements:
Specifically prohibited AZO colorants
Carcinogenic and allergenic colorants
Formaldehyde
Pesticides
Chlorinated phenols
Chlorinated benzenes and toluenes
Extractable heavy metals
Color-fastness
pH value
Phthalates in baby articles
Emission of volatiles
Determination of odors
Biologically active agents and flame retardant products are regulated separately
