  • Questions & Answers

  • What material is the BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier used from?

Primary fabric is 100 % organically grown cotton. Other materials are 100 % polyester.

The textiles closest to the child have been tested and approved in accordance with Oeko-Tex Standard 100, class 1 for baby products. They are guaranteed harmless to children’s sensitive skin and will not trigger allergies.

  • When is it OK to start using the BabyBjörn Comfort Carrier?

A good time to start using the BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier is when your child is 3 months old and weighs at least 6 kg/13.2 lbs. This baby carrier can be used until your child weighs 14 kg/30.8 lbs (approx 2 years).

  • How long can I carry my child in the baby carrier each time?

You can carry your child in the baby carrier as long as she/he is content. Remember to pay close attention to your child’s signals. However, we recommend that you switch positions/activities often, as small children should not remain still in the same position for extended periods of time.

  • Is it OK for my child to suck and chew on the baby carrier?

Yes. All textiles used in our baby carriers have been tested and certified in accordance with Oeko-Tex Standard 100, class 1, the category for baby products, which has the strictest requirements. The Oeko-Tex label guarantees that the textiles are free from health-hazardous substances and allergens.

  • When is it OK to start carrying my child facing outward in the BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier?

You can begin carrying your child facing outward when his/her neck muscles are strong enough to hold his/her head up. When the child is facing outwards, you should always use the normal leg position. If your child still enjoys being carried when he/she weighs 12-14 kg/26.4-30.8 lbs, we recommend that you carry your child facing inwards using the wide leg position to guarantee as ergonomic a position as possible for you while you are carrying your child.

  • How should I wash my BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier?

The BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier should be washed separately, warm (40 °C). Use a gentle, bleach-free detergent. Do not tumble dry.

  • Is it OK for my baby to sleep in the BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier?

Sure! And the same is true for all of our baby carriers. In the baby carrier, your child receives closeness and warmth so that he/she can fall asleep feeling safe. BabyBjörn’s baby carriers provide ample support for the child’s back and neck, which allows you to carry your sleeping child for as long as he/she is content. However, always pay close attention to your child’s signals and remember to switch between the baby carrier and, for example, a babysitter, stroller or bed, as small children should not remain still in the same position for extended periods of time.

  • When should I use the leg straps?

The leg straps reduce the size of the leg holes to suit smaller children. In the BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier they should be used when your child weighs between 6 kg/13.2 lbs and 6.5 kg/14.3 lbs.

  • Is it OK to use the BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier for a newborn?

No. The BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier is too big for newborns. They require another type of support for their entire body and head. The BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier cannot be used until the child is at least 3 months old and weighs no less than 6 kg/13.2 lbs.

  • What distinguishes the BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier from your other baby carriers?

The BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier is designed to make it possible to carry a heavier child (up to 14 kg/30.8 lbs) for extended periods of time. The waist belt distributes the weight between your hips and shoulders, so that pressure is taken off your back.

  • Can the BABYBJÖRN Bib for Baby Carrier be used with my BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier?

BABYBJÖRN Bib for Baby Carrier cannot be used with the Comfort Carrier as it is designed for our other Baby Carriers.

  • Can I use the BABYBJÖRN Cover for Baby Carrier with the BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier?

The BABYBJÖRN Cover for Baby Carrier does not fit this model. A fitted bib is for sale that fits BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier.

  • What is the difference between the normal and wide carrying positions?

The flexible carrying positions – normal and wide leg position – makes it a belt carrier that allows for carrying baby facing inward and forward.

The wide position brings the baby closer to parent’s body when facing inward, which reduces the weight and makes it comfortable to carry the child for longer periods.

The Normal position allows for freedom of movement as well as carrying the child facing forward. The child can be carried comfortably facing forward up to 12kg/26lbs.

  • How to take your baby out of the BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier?

You can easily lift your baby out of the BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier by loosening the sidestraps which encreases the space around the baby.

  • Can this model be used as a back carrier?

No. The BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier is designed to be used exclusively as a front carrier (on your chest/stomach) and cannot be used to carry your child on your back.

  • How do I adjust the baby carrier so that I can carry my child facing inward or outward?

It’s easy to go from carrying your child facing inward, or tummy-to-tummy, to facing outward so that he/she can look around. In both cases, you lower your child from above in the baby carrier’s “carrying pouch.” The child’s arms should be placed through the armholes. Facing outward, use the normal leg position and fold down the head support so that your child’s view is not obstructed.

Carry your child facing inwards with normal leg position (1), facing inwards with wide leg position (2) or facing forward with normal leg position (3) and head support folded down.

  • I’m a “Small” but my partner is an “XL.” Will the BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier fit both of us?

The BABYBJÖRN Comfort Carrier has been designed to fit parents from Small to Extra Large. If you’re not sure of your size, it’s a good idea to visit a retailer and try the baby carrier on to make sure you find the right size and are comfortable.
