  • What is the difference between Baby Carrier One and other BABYBJÖRN Baby Carriers?

    The main difference is that you can carry your child on your back with your Baby Carrier One, which is not possible with any other of our baby carriers. Your child must be at least 12 months old before you can carry her or him on your back. You can use Baby Carrier One for your newborn baby (at least 3.5kg and 53cm) and until she or he is approximately 3 years old (max. 15kg or 100cm). 

  • When can I begin to use Baby Carrier One?

    BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier One is perfect to use for a newborn baby, provided she or he is 53cm and weighs at least 3.5 kg. The baby carrier has been developed in cooperation with pediatricians to make sure your newborn baby gets the best possible support for her or his entire body.   • How do I put on Baby Carrier One?

    On delivery, the baby carrier will be in the upper height position for newborn babies. If your child is taller than 68 cm, you should change to the lower baby height position. 

    Put on the baby carrier like a pullover sweater (Picture 1). Place the back yoke just below your shoulder blades (Picture 2) and then buckle the waist belt at your back. Loosen the shoulder straps, unbutton the head support on both sides and unbutton the safety buckle on one side. 

    Now you are ready to lift your child into the baby carrier. (Picture 3) When your child is in place and you have fastened the safety buckle (Picture 4), fastened the head support (Picture 5) and the leg straps if you are using them, you can tighten the shoulder straps and the waist belt (Picture 6) so both you and your child are comfortable.

  • When can I begin to carry my child on my back in Baby Carrier One?

    When your child is 12 months old, she or he will be big enough to be carried on your back in Baby Carrier One.

  • How do I carry my child on my back in a Baby Carrier One?

    Start by putting the baby carrier on your front as usual. The baby should be facing you in the wide leg position. Loosen both shoulder straps (Picture 1). Slip one arm upwards under the shoulder strap (Picture 2) and slip the other arm downwards under the lower part of the shoulder strap (Picture 3). The shoulder strap is now a closed loop around your body. Lift your child from underneath and carefully move her or him round to your back under your lifted arm (Picture 4). Slide the shoulder straps back in place (Picture 5) and place the back yoke where it feels comfortable. Finally, tighten the waist belt and the shoulder straps (Picture 6).

  • When can I begin to carry my child facing outwards in Baby Carrier One?

    We recommend carrying your baby facing inwards at least up until the age of 5 months. At this age your child's neck, spine and hips will be strong enough for you carry your child facing outwards. Remember to always use the normal leg position when carrying your child facing outwards.

  • How long can I keep using Baby Carrier One?

    You can use Baby Carrier One for your newborn baby (at least 3.5kg and 53cm) and until she or he is approximately 3 years (max. 15kg or 100cm).

  • Can my baby get over-stimulated when she or he is carried facing outwards in Baby Carrier One?

    Around five months of age, it's a natural phase in a baby's development to want to see what is going on around them and to begin trying to turn around to see more. With Baby Carrier One you can begin carrying a child of this age facing outwards. The baby has both the pleasure of discovering new things and the safety of meeting the world with her or his back resting closely against Mom or Dad.     Your baby will let you know if she or he is tired or unhappy. All you need to do then is turn your baby to face you, or lift your baby out of the baby carrier and into the crib or baby carriage.

    Remember to always use the normal leg position when carrying your child facing outwards.

    PLEASE NOTE! During the very first months you should not carry your baby facing outwards at all, as the baby’s neck muscles are not sufficiently developed to support his/her head. 

  • Is the position of the baby's hips, legs and spine anatomically correct in Baby Carrier One?

     

    Yes.   • Why can the baby only be carried upright in Baby Carrier One?

    Baby Carrier One has been developed in cooperation with pediatricians to meet the specific needs of a newborn. Free airways are very important for the newborn baby. So it is essential that the baby carrier provides adequate support, holds the baby upright and does not allow the body to slump. The support Baby Carrier One provides for head and neck, and the upright position with free airways, is optimal for the newborn baby's little body. Moreover, it enables you as a parent to always keep an eye on your baby's breathing.

  • How long can my child be carried in Baby Carrier One each time?

    You can carry your child in the baby carrier for as long as she or he is satisfied. However, small children should not be motionless in the same position for long periods of time. That's why we recommend that you always pay close attention to your child’s needs and switch between the baby carrier and, for example, a bouncer, baby carriage or crib.

  • Can my baby sleep in Baby Carrier One?

    Yes! It’s fine for your child to sleep in the baby carrier! In the baby carrier, your child enjoys closeness and warmth and hears your heartbeat, just like in Mom's tummy. This is all it takes for many babies to be rocked gently to sleep in the baby carrier. You can carry your child in the baby carrier for as long as she or he is satisfied. However, small children should not be motionless in the same position for long periods of time. That's why we recommend that you always pay close attention to your child’s needs and switch between the baby carrier and, for example, a bouncer, baby carriage or crib. Since the baby carrier’s front piece is completely detachable, you can easily put your sleeping child down without waking her or him.

  • My baby has colic; can I carry her or him in baby Carrier One?

    Yes, carrying your baby in an upright position in Baby Carrier One can alleviate temporary stomach problems. Being carried, feeling the closeness and safety of Mom or Dad, may also have a soothing effect on your child. 

  • How do I adjust Baby Carrier One to fit my growing child?

    In the first months you should use the upper newborn height position. When your baby is 68 cm (about 4 months) you easily switch to the lower baby height position using the zipper.

  • How do I adjust the head support on Baby Carrier One?

    You adjust the head support by tightening or loosening the short head support straps on the upper part of the baby carrier. Make sure there is enough room around your baby’s head for the free passage of air.

    The head support should be used until the baby's neck muscles are strong enough to hold her or his head up firmly.

  • How do I use the leg straps on Baby Carrier One?

    Use the leg straps when your baby weighs between 3.5 and 4.5 kg to reduce the size of the leg openings. Fasten the loops on the vest section to the large buttons on the front of the baby carrier. 

  • When do I use the normal and wide leg positions?

     

    Your newborn should always be carried facing inwards in the normal leg position.

    You should also always use the normal leg position when you carry your baby facing outwards.

    When carrying a larger baby facing inwards, you can either use the normal or the wide leg position.

    Always use the wide leg position when carrying the child on your back.

    You switch between normal and wide leg position by opening or closing the zipper on each side.

     

  • Are the fabrics in the baby carrier safe – is it OK for my baby to suck the baby carrier, for example?

    Yes. All the fabrics in all our baby carriers comply with the Oeko-Tex Standard 100, class 1,  the category for babies, which means that the fabrics are free from health-hazardous substances and allergens. 

  • How should I wash my Baby Carrier One?

    The baby carrier can be machine washed at 104°F/40°C. Wash separately. Please use a mild, eco-friendly and bleach-free detergent. Do not tumble dry the baby carrier. We recommend using a laundry bag.

  • Which accessories are available for Baby Carrier One?
