GENERAL QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR BABY CARRIERS

9 Articles

When can you start using BABYBJÖRN Baby Carriers?

You can start using Baby Carrier Original from birth (at least 8 lbs/3.5 kg and 21 in/53 cm) to 25 lbs/11 kg.

You can start using Baby Carrier Miracle from birth (at least 8 lbs/3.5 kg and 21 in/53 cm) to around 15 months (max 26 lbs/12 kg).

You can start using Baby Carrier One from newborn (at least 8 lbs/3.5 kg and 21 in/53 cm) to around 3 years (max 33 lbs/15 kg and 39 in/100 cm).

When can I start carrying my baby facing backwards in my baby carrier?

Following advice from pediatricians we collaborate with, we recommend that your baby be carried facing inwards in the baby carrier until around five months of age. Before this age, baby's neck muscles, spine and hips are not sufficiently developed.

How long can I carry my child in the baby carrier for at a time?

You can carry your child in the baby carrier for as long as he or she is content. However, small children should not be still in the same position for long periods of time. We therefore recommend that you always pay attention to your baby's signals and vary between the baby carrier and, e.g., a bouncer, stroller and crib/cradle.

Are the fabrics in the baby carrier safe, can my child, e.g. suck on the baby carrier?

Yes. All fabrics in our baby carriers are tested and certified according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100, class 1, the class for babies, which also has the most stringent requirements. The Oeko-Tex label means that the fabrics are free from substances hazardous to health and allergens.

Many babies suck and drool on the baby carrier when they are being carried facing outwards. To avoid having to wash the baby carrier too often, you can use the BABYBJÖRN Bib for Baby Carrier or BABYBJÖRN Bib for Baby Carrier One. They are of course also certified in accordance with Oeko-Tex Standard 100, class 1.

What are the washing instructions for BABYBJÖRN Baby Carriers?

You can machine wash all of our baby carriers in warm water (40˚C). Wash separately. Use gentle, non-bleach detergent and do not tumble dry the baby carrier.

My baby has colic, can I carry him or her in BABYBJÖRN Baby Carriers?

Yes, if your baby has temporary stomach problems, it can help to carry your baby in a baby carrier where the baby is in an upright position. It can also be calming for your baby to be carried and feel the security and closeness to mom or dad.

Can my child sleep in the baby carrier?

Certainly, your baby can sleep in our baby carriers. Your baby gets closeness and warmth in the baby carrier, which makes him or her fall asleep securely. Our baby carriers provide good support for baby's back and neck and that is why you can carry your sleeping baby for as long as he/she is content. However, small children should not be still in the same position for long periods of time. We therefore recommend that you always pay attention to your baby's signals and vary between the baby carrier and, e.g., a bouncer, stroller and crib.

Since the baby carrier's front section can be removed completely, you can easily lay down your sleeping baby without waking him or her up.

Is the baby's position with respect to hips, legs and back anatomically correct in BABYBJÖRN Baby Carriers?

Yes, the baby's hips, legs and spine are in the same position as when you hold your baby in your arms. According to pediatricians, an upright position that ensures free air passages, free movement for the legs and arms and good support for the neck and head is the optimal position for a newborn. Our baby carriers meet all of these important orthopedic requirements for small children.

Read more about what pediatricians have to say about our baby carriers.

Does a BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier suit parents of any particular size?

Our baby carriers are designed to be flexible to fit parents from size S to XL. We recommend that you try out the baby carrier via a retailer to see which model fits you best.

BABY CARRIER ORIGINAL

9 Articles

When can I start using Baby Carrier Original?

You can use the baby carrier from birth as long as your child weighs at least 8 lbs/3.5 kg. The leg straps should always be used when your child weighs between 8 lbs/3.5 kg and 10 lbs/4.5 kg.

How do I adjust the headrest on Baby Carrier Original?

All BABYBJÖRN Baby Carriers have a headrest that should be used until the baby's neck muscles are strong enough to hold his/her head up. Adjust the headrest by tightening or loosening the short side loops on the upper part of the baby carrier. Check that your child has space around the head to keep his/her air passages free.

What should I have in mind when I set up Baby Carrier Original?

There are some rules of thumb to follow for the best comfort for both the baby and the parent:

1. Start by setting up the baby carrier to fit the baby's height. See the size instructions on the inside of the baby carrier and adjust using the adjustable double buckle.

2. Put the vest on and attach it to the front part of the baby carrier by locking the double buckle. It is securely locked when you hear a clicking sound for the left and right side of the double buckle.

3. Don't forget that you can choose how high you carry your baby depending on how high you place the double buckle. You should carry your baby high enough for you to kiss the baby's head.

4. Adjust the baby carrier's shoulder strap to fit your body size. The back cross should be on a level with the lower part of your shoulder blades for maximum carrying comfort.

When should I use the leg straps?

The leg straps are intended to reduce the size of the leg holes for smaller babies. The Baby Carrier Original leg straps should be used when your child weighs between 8 lbs/3.5 kg and 10 lbs/4.5 kg. This may also vary a bit depending on how much clothing your baby is wearing. Always make sure that the leg straps are not on too hard around baby's legs.

How do I adjust my Baby Carrier Original to fit my growing child?

All BABYBJÖRN baby carriers can be adjusted continuously as your child grows. There is a size adjuster on the inside of the lower part of the baby carrier's front section. Use the double buckle to set the baby carrier to fit your child's height.

What material is in Baby Carrier Original?

Baby Carrier Original is available in two fabric collections: cotton and mesh fabric.

The fabric in the cotton collection consists of 100% cotton.

The fabric in the mesh fabric collection consists of 100% polyester. It is an airy mesh fabric that is breathable and carries away heat and moisture from you and your baby. The fabric is specially made for BABYBJÖRN.

Fabrics are tested and approved in accordance with Oeko-Tex Standard 100, class 1 for baby products. They are guaranteed harmless to children’s sensitive skin and will not trigger allergies.

Can I breastfeed in my Baby Carrier Original?

Yes, it is possible. Without unbuttoning any buckles, let one shoulder strap slide down from the shoulder. You may need to loosen the strap slightly to be able to lean your baby's head to the side. We recommend that you always sit down while you breastfeed in the baby carrier.

I have a baby carrier called Baby Carrier Air, but I can't find it in your assortment anymore. Is it not for sale anymore?

It is, but we changed the name of Baby Carrier Air to Baby Carrier Original, Mesh.

BABY CARRIER MIRACLE

5 Articles

When can I start using Baby Carrier Miracle?

Baby Carrier Miracle is fine to use from birth as long as your baby weighs at least 8 lbs/3.5 kg. Baby Carrier Miracle has been developed together with pediatricians to ensure that newborns get the best conceivable support for their entire body.

What should I have in mind when I set up Baby Carrier Miracle?

For the best comfort for both baby and parent:

1. Start by setting up the baby carrier to fit your baby's size (height). See the size instructions on the inside of the baby carrier for the right setting.

2. Put the vest on and attach it to the front part of the baby carrier by locking the double buckle. It is securely locked when you hear a separate clicking sound for the left and right sliding buckle clips.

3. Don't forget that you can choose how high you carry your baby by how high you place the relief belt. Tiny babies are often carried higher up than babies that are a little bit older, but pay attention to your baby's needs and what you yourself find most comfortable.

How do I adjust my Baby Carrier Miracle to fit my growing baby?

Baby Carrier Miracle can be adjusted easily as your baby grows. There are adjustment instructions and a sliding buckle on the inside of the baby carrier's front piece. Adjust the buckle to fit your baby's height. The height setting is approximate. Hold the buckle flat. You may need to put some effort into it, because it is supposed to be difficult to make the buckle move for safety reasons.

Can I carry my baby facing forward in the BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier Miracle?

Yes, from five months of age, it is fine to take down the headrest and carry your baby facing forward in Baby Carrier Miracle. Prior to this age, baby's neck muscles, spine and hips are not sufficiently developed and you should therefore carry your baby facing inward, toward you.

When should I use the leg straps?

The leg straps are intended to reduce the size of the leg holes for smaller babies. The Baby Carrier Miracle leg straps should be used when your baby weighs between 8 lbs/3.5 kg and 10 lbs/4.5 kg. This may also vary a bit depending on how much clothing your baby is wearing. Always make sure that the leg straps are not on too hard around baby's legs.

BABY CARRIER ONE

11 Articles

What is the difference between Baby Carrier One and other BABYBJÖRN Baby Carriers?

The biggest difference is that you can carry your child on your back with Baby Carrier One, which you can't do with one of our other baby carriers. Your child must be at least 12 months old before you carry him or her on your back. You can use Baby Carrier One from birth (at least 8 lbs/3.5 kg and 21 in/53 cm) up to around 3 years (max. 33 lbs/15 kg or 39 in/100 cm).

When can I start carrying my baby facing outwards in Baby Carrier One?

We recommend that you carry your baby facing inwards at least until he or she is 5 months old. Baby's neck, back and hips are sufficiently developed then for you to also be able to carry him or her facing outwards. Don't forget to always use the normal leg position when you are carrying your baby facing outward.

Most babies at this age think it is fun to get to see the exciting world with their back safely resting against mommy or daddy's chest.

How do I put on Baby Carrier One?

The baby carrier is delivered in the upper height position, which is for newborns. If your baby is taller than 27 in/68 cm, you should switch to the lower height level for babies.

1. Put on the baby carrier like a shirt over your head.
2. Place the back yoke under the shoulder blade and then attach the waist belt to the back.
3. Loosen the shoulder strap and unbutton the headrest on both sides as well as the safety lock on one side.

4. Put your child in the baby carrier. Once he or she is in place and you have locked the safety lock, buttoned up the headrest and, if applicable, the leg straps, you can adjust the shoulder strap and waist belt (so that it is comfortable for you and your baby).

When can I start carrying my baby on my back in Baby Carrier One?

Once your baby is 12 months old, he or she is big enough to be carried on your back in Baby Carrier One.

How do I start carrying my baby on my back in Baby Carrier One?

1. First, put the baby carrier on your belly as usual. Your baby should be facing you and sitting in the wide leg position. Loosen both shoulder straps.

2. Slip one of your arms up under the shoulder strap and the other arm down under the lower part of the shoulder strap.
Now the shoulder pad should be a closed loop around the body.

3. Get a grip on your baby from underneath and turn him or her around onto your back under your raised arm.

4. Put the shoulder strap back in place and place the back yoke where it feels comfortable.

5. Finally, tighten the waist belt and the shoulder strap.

How long can I use Baby Carrier One?

You can use Baby Carrier One from birth (at least 8 lbs/3.5 kg and 21 in/53 cm) up to around 3 years (max. 33 lbs/15 kg or 39 in/100 cm).

How do I adjust the BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier One as my child grows?

For the first few months you should use the upper height position for newborns. Once your child is 27 in/68 cm long (around 4 months), you can easily change to the lower height position using the zipper.

The head support should be used until the child’s neck muscles are strong enough to hold the head up properly.

How do I use the leg straps on the BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier One?

The leg straps should be used when your baby weighs between 8 lb/3.5 kg and 10 lb/4.5 kg. Fasten the loops on the vest onto the large buttons at the front of the baby carrier.

When do I use normal and wide leg position?

Your newborn should always be carried facing inwards with normal leg position. Normal leg position should also always be used when carrying your baby facing outwards.

For bigger babies carried facing inwards, you can either use normal or wide leg position. The wide leg position should always be used when carrying baby on your back.

Switch between normal and wide leg position by opening or closing the zipper on both sides.

How do I wash my Baby Carrier One?

The baby carrier is machine-washable in warm water (40° C). Wash separately. Please use an environmentally friendly and gentle, bleach-free detergent. Do not tumble dry the baby carrier. Please use laundry bags.

BOUNCER BALANCE SOFT

11 Articles

When can I begin using the Bouncer Balance Soft for my baby?

The Bouncer Balance Soft can be used from by newborns (8 lb/3.5 kg) until they weigh 29 lb/13 kg (approx. two years old). The baby side should be used and the safety harness should always be buttoned up until your baby can sit unaided. When your child can walk unaided, the chair side is used as a chair for your child.

When do I use the baby side and when do I use the chair side on my Bouncer Balance Soft?

The Bouncer Balance Soft has two sides:

The baby side is used by newborns until they can sit unaided. The baby side is designed for tiny babies and has a safety harness that should always be buttoned up. The safety harness has two different sets of buttons so that you can adjust the size to fit your baby.

When your child can walk and sit unaided, turn the fabric around and use the chair side. The bouncer can then be used as a chair for your child. You don't need to fasten your child anymore, which is also no longer possible when the chair side is used.

How does the Bouncer Balance Soft work for my child?

Your child's smallest movements are turned into soft, soothing rocking in the bouncer. Babies practice their coordination and have fun at the same time. When your child is big enough and can walk unaided, turn the fabric around and use the bouncer as a chair. The Bouncer Balance Soft can be used for babies until they weigh 28 lb/13 kg. Batteries are not required for our bouncers.

How long can my child sit in the Bouncer Balance Soft at a time?

You can let your child sit in the Bouncer Balance Soft for as long as he or she is content. Your child can also sleep for short periods of time in the bouncer if he or she is content doing so. We recommend that you use the lowest position or the middle position to give your child maximum sleeping comfort. However, small children should not sit or lay still in the same position for long periods of time. That is why we recommend that you pay attention to your child's needs and switch between the bouncer and, e.g., a baby carrier, your arms, a stroller or a crib. You should always use the baby side with the safety harness buttoned up for small children who cannot sit unaided.

The Bouncer Balance Soft has three positions, which one fits my child?

The lowest position (sleep) is used for newborns. The baby lies comfortably with optimum support for the body and can simultaneously have eye contact with the parents. Use the baby side and always button up the safety harness. The maximum weight is 15.5 lb/7 kg.

You can begin to use the middle position (rest) when your child can hold his/her back and head upright easily in this position and the baby side with the safety harness buttoned up is also used here.  The maximum weight is 20 lb/9 kg.

You can begin to use the highest position (play) when your child can hold his/her back and head upright easily in this position and until your child can sit unaided, use the baby side and always button up the safety harness. The maximum weight is 20 lb/9 kg.

When your baby can walk and sit unaided, you don't need to fasten him or her anymore. Instead, turn the fabric around and use the chair side. For the chair side, we recommend the following:

Lowest position (sleep) up to 15.5 lb/7 kg.

Medium position (rest) up to 22 lb/10 kg.

Highest position (play) 29 lb/13 kg.

Transport mode – when the Bounce Balance Soft is not being used, it can be folded up into a compact transport mode and it is then easy to pack up or put away when not being used.

How do I change the position of my Bouncer Balance Soft?

Lift the positioner and move it into the desired position, at the same time as you lift the backrest with your other hand. To fold up the Bouncer Balance Soft into transport mode, the positioner must be set to position A or B. Pull back the red safety latch and set the positioner to transport mode, D.

What material is the fabric seat of my Bouncer Balance Soft made out of?

The Bouncer Balance Soft is available in three fabric collections:

Cotton: cotton
Mesh: polyester
Organic: organically grown cotton

The fabrics closest to the baby are tested and approved in accordance with Oeko-Tex Standard 100, class 1 for baby products. They are guaranteed harmless to children’s sensitive skin and will not trigger allergies.

How do I wash the fabric in Bouncer Balance Soft?

The fabric is easy to remove and should be washed separately in warm water (40˚C). Please use a gentle, bleach-free detergent. Do not tumble dry and never iron the fabric, because this risks the stuffing being flattened.

What makes the Bouncer Balance Soft ergonomic?

The Bouncer Balance Soft has a soft shape that adapts to your child's body. Your child's weight is distributed evenly across the fabric seat, which gives baby good support for his/her head and back. All of this gives your baby an ergonomic laying and sitting position.

What distinguishes the Bouncer Balance Soft from the previous model, BABYBJÖRN Bouncer Balance?

Bouncer Balance Soft has two sides – a baby side and a chair side. The baby side is used by newborns until they can sit unaided. When your child can walk and sit unaided, turn the fabric around and use the chair side.

The baby side is sewn as a cozy "nest" for your little baby. The safety harness is padded and folded in two to be extra soft, since many babies like holding its edges. The safety harness is now fastened so it won't come off and it has two different sets of buttons so that you can adjust the size to fit your child.  The frame has also been given a rounder shape.

Does the fabric seat from older BABYBJÖRN Bouncer models fit Bouncer Balance Soft too?

No, they don't fit very well. The fabric seat for the past Bouncer Balance model does not fit the Bouncer Balance Soft optimally. The fabric seat for the older Bouncer 1-2-3 cannot be put on the frame of the Bouncer Balance Soft.

TRAVEL CRIB LIGHT

8 Articles

What is the difference between the past versions of the Travel Crib Light and the new one with mesh fabric?

The crib itself is basically the same – it is still a travel crib that is easy to take along and easy to set up and fold up. However, the material is new: the travel crib now has mesh fabric all the way down to the floor around the sides. The reason is to make it easier for you to keep track of and keep an eye on your child in the travel crib. Since the product standard has changed, we have also added a new fastening device to the mattress.

Is there a maximum weight for the Travel Crib Light?

We have not listed a recommended maximum weight for the BABYBJÖRN Travel Crib Light. The fact of the matter is that the unique design enables even you to get in the travel crib when putting down or picking up your child.

How long you can use the BABYBJÖRN Travel Crib Light is very individual and varies from child to child. The age limit has nothing to do with weight. It is more about how likely children are to "escape" or try to climb in and out of the travel crib. We recommend that you stop using the BABYBJÖRN Travel Crib Light when your child begins trying to climb out of it.

How do I wash the Travel Crib Light?

You can easily take off the mattress cover by opening the zipper on one of the short sides. Machine wash the mattress cover separately in hot water. Use a gentle, bleach-free detergent. Do not tumble dry.

It is also easy to remove the fabric from the travel crib by opening the four zippers around the frame. Machine wash the fabric separately in warm water. Use a gentle, bleach-free detergent. Do not tumble dry any of the parts.

The mattress itself is too large to be machine-washed. You can wash it gently by hand and rinse it off as needed.

How do I set up the BABYBJÖRN Travel Crib Light?

You can quickly set up the BABYBJÖRN  Travel Crib Light with one simple step. Take the travel crib out of the storage bag. Hold on to the short sides so that the legs point down toward the floor and open it up in one movement. The legs fold out by themselves, but make sure that all four are in the right position.

Please note: Put the mattress in the travel crib and fasten it to the bottom by pulling the red loops through the holes in each corner and fasten them to the red hooks.

Do I have to fasten the mattress to the red hooks?

We recommend that you use the hooks for the best possible safety.

How do I fold up the BABYBJÖRN Travel Crib Light?

First detach the mattress from the hooks. Fold up the mattress and put it in the storage bag. Fold one leg at a time and be careful to pull out the leg before you fold it in. Fold up the crib in the middle and put the crib in the bag.

What are the measurements of the BABYBJÖRN Travel Crib Light and how much does it weigh?

The BABYBJÖRN Travel Crib Light weighs just 13 lbs/6 kg, which makes it easy to bring along both on shorter and longer trips.

Its measurements are as follows:
Mattress: 24x41x1.5 in/60x105x3 cm (EU version)

The frame's measurements are/floor space needed is: 32x44x in/82x112 cm

Folded: 24x19x6 in/60x49x14 cm

Unfolded height: 25 in/64 cm

From what age can my child use the BABYBJÖRN Travel Crib Light?

The BABYBJÖRN Travel Crib Light has been designed for use from birth up to about three years. There is no weight limit, given that the mattress is directly on the floor. How long you can use the travel crib varies from child to child.

Some children can use the BABYBJÖRN Travel Crib Light even after turning three. Others are more likely to escape and can't use it as long. When your child tries to climb out of the travel crib, it is time to stop using it, so pay attention to whether he or she begins trying to get out of it.

Why should I choose BABYBJÖRN Cradle instead of a traditional cradle?

When you choose BABYBJÖRN Cradle you get a cradle with a unique rocking action that cannot get stuck in any position. It is lightweight and easy to move around from room to room. Your baby can breathe through the airy mesh fabric and it is easy for you to keep an eye on your baby, even when you are lying in bed. Assembly is very easy and the covering can be washed.

>> Read the history behind the development of the product

When can I begin using the cradle for my baby?

The cradle can be used by a newborn baby until he or she can sit unaided (approx. 6 months) or weighs 18 lbs/8 kg.

How do I assemble the cradle?

The BABYBJÖRN Cradle is easy to assemble, use the two screws and the Allen key that are included and follow the instructions in the Owner’s Manual. Assembly only takes a few minutes. The Allen key is a standard type.

How do I wash the cradle?

The cradle’s outer fabric is easy to remove by opening three zips. Machine-wash the fabric separately in warm water (40° C). The mattress is machine washable in hot water (60° C). You can either remove the mattress fabric or leave it on during washing.

Please use a gentle, bleach-free detergent. Do not tumble dry. The cradle framework and other details can be wiped using a cloth and gentle, all-purpose cleaner.

What kind of mattress does the cradle have?

The mattress in BABYBJÖRN Cradle complies with existing mattress standards and has been developed in consultation with pediatricians. A thin mattress is safer than a thicker one. Please note: Only use the mattress that comes with this product. There is also a sheet made out of organic cotton tailored to fit the mattress which can be bought as an accessory: the BABYBJÖRN Fitted Sheet for Cradle.

Why is the cradle made out of mesh fabric?

Mesh fabric has two major advantages. The first is that your baby can breathe through it if your baby's face is very close to it. The second is that you can see through the fabric, which makes it easy to keep an eye on your sleeping baby.

What is special about the rocking action of the BABYBJÖRN Cradle?

The movement is similar to that of a stroller with spring suspension. The cradle is easy to rock in all directions. You can rock the cradle with gentle hand or foot movements.

The cradle is set in motion by your baby’s movements and a baby who wakes up may be lulled back to sleep. Some sleep experts claim that children do not sleep as deeply when they are in motion. But the cradle stops rocking once your baby falls asleep, so he or she does not get accustomed to constant movement while asleep.

In what way is the BABYBJÖRN Cradle safe?

The cradle has been developed in consultation with experts, including American physician and child safety expert Mark Brandenburg.  Doctor Brandenburg is convinced that the BABYBJÖRN Cradle does not have any of the risks commonly associated with cradles. In his book “Child Safe” he writes:

“Injury occurs when a baby rolls so far to one side that the cradle fails to rock back in the other direction. If the cradle becomes angled to a degree that prevents an infant from moving off the railings, pressure against her chest can become great enough to prevent breathing.”

Doctor Brandenburg contends that cradles can get stuck at an angle that can be dangerous for the baby. But he confirms that there is no risk of this happening with the BABYBJÖRN Cradle, because it stands firmly on the floor and does not rock in the traditional way and so cannot get stuck in one position.

In addition, all sides of the cradle are made of a mesh fabric that your baby can breathe through, even if your baby’s face is very close to the side of the cradle.

What are the cradle's measurements?

The cradle weighs only 13 lbs/6 kg.

Height/length/width in transport mode: 5x31x23 in/13x79x58 cm
Height/length/width unfolded/standing: 26x31x23 in/65x79x58 cm
Mattress measurements: 14x28 in/36x72 cm

What material is the cradle made out of?

Mattress cover: 100% cotton
Mattress filling: 100% polyether
Fabric around cradle: 100% polyester
Legs: Wood (beech) and steel, feet are made out of TPE plastic
Canopy: 100% polyester

Fabrics are tested and approved in accordance with Oeko-Tex Standard 100, class 1 for baby products. They are guaranteed harmless to children’s sensitive skin and will not trigger allergies.

Why is the BABYBJÖRN Cradle so small?

The compact size of our cradle makes it easy to move, as well as snug and cozy for your baby, just like being in Mommy’s tummy.

Babies old enough to sit unaided should not be using a cradle – they can start to climb and at worst fall out of the cradle. That is why we have made our cradle small – your baby should grow out of it when it is time to move on to a larger bed.

"I have seen another BABYBJÖRN crib. How does it differ from the BABYBJÖRN Cradle?"

BABYBJÖRN used to sell an earlier version of the BABYBJÖRN Cradle called Bassinet. BABYBJÖRN Cradle is a modified version with a number of improvements, which we also sell at a lower price than its predecessor. The basic design is unchanged.

How do I use the BABYBJÖRN Canopy for Cradle?

The canopy is an accessory for BABYBJÖRN Cradle which is sold separately. It provides a cozy shelter for your baby. The canopy can also be used as a mosquito and insect net, since you can wrap it all the way around the cradle.

It is easy to attach the canopy to the cradle by clipping it to the edge – no tools are needed.

How do I wash the canopy?

The canopy fabric is machine washable in warm water (40°C). Please use a gentle, bleach-free detergent. Do not tumble dry.

Please note: Remove the fabric from the frame before you wash the canopy.

When can my child start using the BABYBJÖRN High Chair?

You can start using the BABYBJÖRN High Chair as your child's first chair when your child is at least six months old and can sit unaided.

How does the high chair's openable table work?

The openable safety table serves as a safety lock and should be close to your child's body to make it harder to stand up. When the table is closed, you can adjust the safety table in different positions by pushing in the red adjustment button on the bottom of the safety table.

How long can my child use the high chair?

The high chair can be used for as long as your child has room to sit in the chair and you can close the safety table. Children often fit in the chair up to about three years or 38 in/95 cm, but it is of course highly individual since children grow at different paces. The high chair is ergonomically shaped and has a curved back to fit children's bodies optimally.

Important! The safety table should be close to the child's body, which makes it harder for him or her to stand up.

What is the maximum weight for sitting in the high chair?

There is no maximum weight for our high chair. It can bear your child's weight for as long as your child has room to sit in the chair.

How do I adjust the high chair to fit my child?

You can move the safety table into different positions by pushing in the red adjustment button on the bottom of the table and simultaneously pushing the table closer to or further from your child.

Important! The safety table should be close to your child's body to make it harder for him or her to stand up.

How do I open/close the safety table so I can take out/put in my child?

To open and close the safety table, first push in the red safety lock on the black handle and then turn the handle to the side. Don't forget to always hold your child steady when you put him/her in and take him/her out.

Important! Don't forget that the safety table should always be in the locked position when your child is sitting in the high chair.

Is your child sitting safely in the BABYBJÖRN High Chair?

The high chair's safety table should be fastened close to the child to make it harder for him or her to stand up in the chair. The child-safe two-step lock prevents children from opening and closing the high chair and from folding it up into transport mode.

Important! Don't forget to never leave your child unattended in the High Chair.

How do I fold up the high chair into transport mode?

First, fold up the safety table against the chair support by holding in the red adjustment button. Then pull the black fold locks over the red adjustment button and fold up the safety table. Push in the leg locks and then push the legs together.

How do I clean the high chair?

We recommend drying it off with a damp rag. The removable tray can be washed by hand or in the dishwasher.

What material is the high chair made out of?

The BABYBJÖRN High Chair is made out of plastic and coated steel.

The tray is made out of Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS). It is food grade and meets plastic safety requirements in both Europe (EEC) and the U.S. (FDA).

BABY PLATE AND SPOON

5 Articles

My plate is marked #7 on the bottom, what does that mean?

The number under the plate tells you what plastics were used in production. The plastics are divided up into seven different classes, with classes 1-6 standing for certain specific plastics (see below). But class 7 just stands for "other plastics", i.e. the product contains other plastics besides the ones specified in classes 1 to 6.

In what way is the BABYBJÖRN Plate and Spoon easier to eat with than other plates and spoons?

The plate's three-leaf clover shape makes it easier for babies to scoop up the food instead of it moving around on the plate. The rubber ring on the base of the plate makes it steadier on the table. The rounding of the edges makes it difficult for small hands to grip the plate and throw it away.

The spoon's short handle is easy for small hands to grip and fits just as well in both the right hand and the left hand. The bowl of the spoon is shaped like the plate and makes it easier for babies to scoop up the food onto the spoon.

Can I wash the Plate and Spoon in the dishwasher?

Yes, it is ok to dish wash both the plate and the spoon in the dish washer. But avoid putting them close to the dish washer's heater.

Can I heat up food on the plate in a microwave?

Yes, on low heat, i.e. max. 194 °F (90 °C). Heating on low power is gentler on the plate and makes it last longer than if you heat it on high power. We recommend only heating up food, not cooking or boiling food in the microwave.

What plastics are used in the plate?

The edges of the spoon and the plate are made out of polypropylene (PP) and the rubber ring on the base of the plate is made out of thermoplastic elastomers (TPE). The inside of the plate is made out of Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS).

The plastic is food grade and meets plastic safety requirements in both Europe (EEC) and the U.S. (FDA). The product is PVC-free and does not contain bisphenol A, phthalates, cadmium, lead or bromine. The plastic is also recyclable.

When can my child start using the BABYBJÖRN Baby Cup?

Your child can start using the cup from around 8 months as his/her first cup (child development is however individual and the age can therefore vary a bit). TIP: An adult can feed baby from the cup/hold the cup in the beginning and when the baby begins to get interested and has the motor skills to hold the cup, it becomes natural for the baby to do it himself/herself. Baby will love experimenting in the beginning and by filling small amounts at a time, spills will be a natural part of learning.
